Welcome to the best Patriots bar...ever!
In 1994 Murphy's Pub in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia began televising every Patriots game. Displaced New Englanders soon found a place to gather and cheer for their team. And ever since, they've been packing 'em in. Even in this age of satellite dishes, Pats fans flock to the pub to catch the games. Murphy's is our home base when we're not at the games.
All Patriots regular season games televised on the giant projection
screen! Just like our tailgates we welcome all fans, friend or foe (friendly rivalry is always appreciated). Feel free to join the crowd on any game day - 713 King Street, 2nd floor. Just don't expect to hear the play by play (aka blowhards) on the televisions. Our
motto:
Question: How did Murphy's become a Patriots Bar? Answer: Charlie Wallace Back in '94, in keeping with the times Murphy's decided it was high time to designate their bar the home of an NFL team. In fair nature, they set out a ballot box for all patrons to determine whom they thought best represented the Irish establishment. Enter Charlie Wallace: A Murphy's regular, Massachusetts native, and lifelong Patriots fan. Charlie was a true fan. He was there when the New England Patriots played at Fenway, Harvard, and BC; and was a season ticket holder when Schaefer Stadium opened in 1971. And if he had his druthers, there was no way Murphy's would be anything but a Patriots bar. Suffice to say, many turned a blind eye to the amiable fellow's repeated stuffing of the ballot box. And when Charlie overheard team names like the Bills or the Steelers being cavalierly tossed around...well, that only encouraged him to vote for his favorite team...again. The rest, as we say, is history. "The Patriots never make it easy on us" - Charlie Wallace (RIP)
