Murphy's Pub - Home
of the New England Patriots!
The
Bills blowout was great! Many Pats fans turned out to cheer on the best
team in the league! There was one lone Bills fan, but he left quietly at
halftime! Several new faces watched as Brady, Moss and company torched
through the Bills defense. Hope to see a few new faces in this week as
well. Come watch the game at the best Pats Pub around- Murphy's!

Buffalo Trek: 2005
The Buffalo trip was a rough
one (you can tell by the one picture). Joe and Mark braved a 6 hour
snow layover in Pittsburgh on the Friday flight there (of
course, after 100+ hands of euker and many libations later, it didn't
seem to matter) with Susan (not pictured) and a few folks we picked
up along the way. We finally landed in Buffalo some 9 hours later
and the party continued...
By Sunday's
tailgate, the weather turned ugly. Snow and cold. Billy (see him in
his Nanook of the North hat), a Bills fan, joined us and provided
the liquid refreshments. There were probably as many Pats fans in
our section of the parking lot as Bills fans.

It warmed up near game time and the weather
cleared as the Pats took control of the game from the beginning. The
Bills fans, obviously jealous of Tedi Bruski's abilities (either
that or they were plain confused), yelled "Bruski, Bruski" on just
about every good defense play, whether he was in on the play or not.
By the end of the 3rd quarter, the once full stadium was nothing
short of half full. Poor Bills fans...

Here We Went!! |
Another
game, another road trip.
Ken and I left for the overnight trip to
Charlotte even though Cienna Caca (spelling??) was in
town, playing at Murphy's for the "Halfway to St.
Patrick's Day Party". Sacrifices, sacrifices...
The
trip down on Saturday was uneventful. After arriving
and checking into the Days Inn Uptown (recommended for
location and price), we hopped in a taxi in search of
"The Flying Saucer", a highly touted pub,
supposedly for beer coinsurers, in the university
section. Great place! 80 beers on tap, so many more
bottled, it boggles the mind. But hey, we're talkin'
beer here and I have to say the Carolina Milk Stout
was my personal favorite. Neither of us made it
through the 80, though we gave it a good try!!

Up
at the crack of dawn on Sunday, we hit the tailgate
lot at 9AM. Not much happening at first, but slowly
the lot filled up with a 60/40 split of
Panther/Patriots fans. GOOD TIME! Guinness for
breakfast, Bud for lunch... almost like we were
at Murphy's (we couldn't find a mimosa, though)!! We
found our favorite new spectator sport, Washers, as we
made the rounds to all of the tailgate parties. Ken
especially liked the "Panther Fanz" tailgate
bus... he hadn't been to a Panther game before.
Most of the fans were great and good natured. There
were certainly more Patriots fans than we expected.
The atmosphere was one of a playoff game rather than
the 2nd game of the season. Lots of football left,
folks!
Despite the loss (we left with 2:39 to go), we had a
blast and look forward to the next trip, Buffalo, in
December. No more driving, though. Next trip we've
gotta FLY...
